OREANDA-NEWS. At least seven people were victims of an incident with the use of firearms at a party in the American city of Colorado Springs (Colorado), the local police department reported on Sunday, May 9.

According to law enforcement agencies, just after midnight (local time), an armed man, whose name the authorities did not disclose, went into the house-trailer, where the birthday celebration was taking place. In front of the children he shot his girlfriend and four other people, then committed suicide.

Police arrived at the scene and found, in addition to the six bodies, another person with serious injuries, who later died in hospital. The children were not injured in the attack and were sent to their relatives. The motives of the attacker have not yet been established, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident.

At the end of March, US President Joseph Biden already issued a statement about another shooting incident in Colorado, which killed ten people, including one police officer. The head of the White House then called on lawmakers in the Senate and the House of Representatives of the US Congress to take action and introduce, in particular, a ban on assault weapons.
