At Least Four People Died in an Earthquake in Turkey
OREANDA-NEWS. At least four people died because of an earthquake in the eastern part of Turkey.
This was reported by the Minister of the Interior, Suleyman Soylu, on January 24. “Four of our citizens died in the earthquake: two in the province of Malatya and two in the province of Elazig,” he said.
Earlier on the same day, it became known that an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in eastern Turkey. The head of the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, Mehmet Gulluoglu, said the epicenter was 7 kilometers deep. In some villages, buildings were destroyed. Seismologists noted that tremors were also felt in Israel, Iraq and Syria.
