Pavel Filip Had Meeting with Representatives of Fourism Industry
OREANDA-NEWS. Representatives of the Moldovan tourism industry had a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip on the World Tourism Day, annually marked on 27 September. Given that it is the first meeting of this kind in Moldova, the event was a good occasion to discuss achievements of the branch, problems, as well as solutions to improve the situation.
The Prime Minister conveyed congratulations to all those who work in the tourism sector on the professional day, stressing the importance of the tourism industry for Moldova’s economic development. Pavel Filip showed confidence that tourism represented a segment with big potential, which must be necessarily turned to account.
“We do not have sea, do not have mountains, but we have ingenious and hospitable people, nice places and traditions – here is our competitive advantage. So, I invite you to turn to good account this potential,” said the Prime Minister. In this context, the Pavel Filip referred to the actions undertaken by the cabinet to improve the conditions in the business environment.
“We have adopted a string measures which facilitate not only the tourism activity, but also the business one, in general. I mean the moratorium on state controls, reducing bureaucracy in doing business, as well as other measures by which we want to stimulate the business environment to invest more money in the country’s economy,” Pavel Filip noted.
For his part, the director general of the Tourism Agency, Stanislav Rusu, referred to the present situation in the tourism branch, emphasizing its role in the national economy and the fact that a significant increase in the principal indexes in the concerned field was recorded at present. At the same time, Rusu pointed out a string of problems needing the state’s involvement, among which, facilitating the regime of getting tourism visas for foreign tourists in Moldova, speeding up the process of modernizing the infrastructure, as well as preserving the authenticity of the country’s natural and cultural patrimony.
The participants in the meeting made more proposals, among which creating a tourism bureau in Moldova, as well as placing the tourism sector among the state’s priorities.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip assured of all openness and needed support on behalf of the government to settle the aforementioned problems, in order to develop tourism and promote Moldova’s image.
