Migration Is Not Expected to Come to End in Short Term
OREANDA-NEWS. On Friday, Gy?rgy Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, told public television channel M1 that migration is not expected to come to an end in the short term, as the pool of potential migrants is so large.
The EU position on migration is shifting: the Union is coming to realise that there will be no internal security until there is appropriate border protection; he explained that this cannot be provided by others instead of us – such as Turkey.
Mr. Bakondi pointed out that individual nation states have already taken measures to protect their citizens, as they have recognised their needs.
On the Hungarian border it can be seen that, thanks to the decisive actions taken by Hungarian authorities, the activities of people smugglers have been disrupted. Therefore, Mr. Bakondi said, at the moment it is not expected that there will be a repeat of the mass influx of last summer and autumn, when eight to ten thousand people a day crossed Hungary’s borders.
