OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Pavel Filip attended the launch of the EU project under the auspices of EASA. "Support and assistance in civil aviation of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asian countries ". The project is aimed at transposing the international and European standards in civil aviation in Moldova, with a budget of about five million and a term of three years.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of this project for our country and gave assurances that the government would fully support its its implementation, and would closely monitor the way the money due to be invested in the project is spent.  

Pavel Filip thanked the foreign partners for  support provided and said that reforming of the air transport was a strategic decision for the Government. "By developing this sector, we aim not only to improve the capacity of transport of passengers and goods, but also the development of the national economy via stimulating indirectly such fields as financial services, tourism, commerce etc. Thanks to a collaborative effort made by the Government, an increase in the number of direct flights operated from Moldova, entrance on the low-cost operators' market, as well as a cut in plane tickets have already become possible. Our goal is that people speak about the civil aviation only in positive terms, and the most important thing is that passengers appreciate the services provided," said the Prime Minister. 

The Prime Minister noted that, in order to provide to Moldovan civil aviation a distinct position in the international aeronautics sector, the government would constantly promote aviation safety through effective regulation and by promoting the highest standards. 

The event on the launch of the project "Support and assistance in civil aviation of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asian countries" brought together in Chisinau managers of civil aviation authorities from eight beneficiary countries, including Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, representatives of the European Commission, EASA and International Civil Aviation Organisation.
