Protection of Consumer Rights Will be Coordinated By Special Council
OREANDA-NEWS. The cabinet today ruled to set up a coordinating council for consumers’ protection and market supervision.
The main goals of the Council will be focused on enhancing the level of protection of consumers and their rights, in line with the legislation in force. Also, the entity will deal with standardizing the legal framework with juridical norms on market supervision, as well as protecting consumers’ rights in terms of compliance of the non-food products supplied on market. Fighting illegal trade with non-complied goods will be another important concern of the Council.
Besides, the council will analyse and propose mechanisms of coordinating the work of the market supervision authorities, will participate in consultations on developing a normative and institutional framework in the market control sector and promoting the state’s policy in the consumers’ protection field.
The coordinating council for consumers’ protection and market supervision will be subordinated to the Economics Ministry.
