Armenians Hold Rally Near Monument to Nazi Collaborator in Karabakh
OREANDA-NEWS. Armenian residents in Karabakh hold a rally near the monument to Nazi collaborator Garegin Nzhdeh. The sculpture is installed in the Azerbaijani city Khojavend. This is reported by the Telegram channel «Caucasian Bureau».
Activists set up a poster with the hashtag #EtoVamNeArmavir (thisisnotArmavir). Currently, social networks under this hashtag are discussing the news about the likely dismantling of this monument to the Victory Day due to pressure from Russian peacekeepers.
In 2019, the deputy of the City Duma of Armavir Alexey Vinogradov painted over the sign with the name of Garegin Nzhdeh, installed on the territory of the Armenian temple, with black paint. Thus, he achieved it's removal. The activists who put up a poster with the inscription «EtoVamNeArmavir» remind of the holding of this action and oppose the dismantling of the monument.
Garegin Nzhdeh is an Armenian political and military figure who was the founder of Tsehakronism – the Armenian nationalist ideology. During the World War II, he collaborated with the Nazis. Nevertheless, a number of politicians and political figures in Armenia consider him a national hero.
