OREANDA-NEWS  German Chancellor Angela Merkel called for medical assistance to the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. She announced this, speaking by video link at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Merkel notes that Berlin is very concerned about the health of the politician, the German government calls for the provision of appropriate medical assistance to Navalny.

Navalny, who in February the Simonovsky court of Moscow canceled a suspended sentence in the case of the Yves Rocher company, appointing 3.5 years in a general regime colony, wrote in his Instagram account on March 31 that he was going on a hunger strike "demanding to let a visiting doctor": the blogger leg and back hurt.
