OREANDA-NEWS. Passers-by in Britain have found nearly a ton of cocaine worth £ 80 million ($ 113.3 million) on the beach, authorities are investigating, according to the National Crime Agency (NCA) on its official website.

Locals near the cities of Hastings and Newhaven found waterproof bags with lifejackets tied on the coast, which, as it turned out, contained cocaine.

In total, the two found lots contained about 960 kg of the drug. The police consider the finds to be related to each other.

"Most likely, the loss of a party of this size is a serious blow to the criminal organizations involved in this," said Martin Grace, head of the local branch of the National Agency for the Fight against Crime.The NCA release said: "The NCA has launched an investigation after discovering nearly a ton of a substance, believed to be cocaine, at two locations on the East Sussex coast." The department noted that the samples taken have positive results for cocaine, and in the future a full forensic examination will be carried out.

The NCA estimates that 960 kilograms of cocaine found on the black market are equivalent to approximately £ 80 million ($ 113.3 million).

According to the department, cocaine could have arrived in Britain from South America. It is reported that the investigation is likely to be facilitated by international partners.
