OREANDA-NEWS. According to the BelTA channel, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced the date when the All-Belarusian People's Assembly will take place. According to him, the event will take place on February 11-12, 2021.

According to the news agency, Lukashenka held a meeting on the preparation of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. According to him, the assembly is "an organ of direct democracy," which played an important role in uniting the Belarusian people.

According to Lukashenko, the All-Belarusian People's Assembly should include "people representing all strata and groups of the population, the entire Belarusian people."

Lukashenko added that "we have always had this way, since 1996, when we held the first All-Belarusian Congress." In his opinion, over time, citizens will understand that "this is the most important forum in the history" of the Belarusian people. On December 8, Lukashenko promised to transfer part of the presidential powers to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly.

According to the Belarusian president, some of the powers removed from this position should be transferred somewhere. At the same time, he believes that these powers should not be transferred to the government and parliament.

The situation in Belarus worsened after August 9, when presidential elections were held in the country. On them, according to official data, Lukashenka won for the sixth time in a row. This sparked massive opposition protests. Some of the citizens considered that their votes were stolen, which they had given for Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
