OREANDA-NEWS  An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 occurred off the east coast of Japan, the threat of a tsunami was not announced, the country's main meteorological agency reports on its website.

According to him, the tremors were recorded at 20:07 (14:07 Moscow time) off the east coast of Hachijejima Island. The hearth lay at a depth of 100 kilometers.

No tsunami threat has been announced. There are also no reports of damage or injuries, the agency concluded.
