OREANDA-NEWSFormer US National Security Agency (NSA) employee Edward Snowden has no right to receive income from his recently published book Permanent Record ("Personal file"), because he violated the terms of a number of contracts concluded with his ex-employer. Such a ruling was issued by the court of the Eastern District of the US state of Virginia, the American News Agency reported on Tuesday.

According to the decision of District Judge Liam O'Grady, Snowden violated his obligations because he didn’t send his book to the NSA and the CIA before publication for consideration of the content of classified information.

"The Permanent Record contains information that Snowden, under contracts with both the CIA and the NSA, was required to submit for review to these institutions before publication", the judge said. However, he didn't accept the defense argument, according to which the United States indicated that they wouldn't consider the materials properly and within a reasonable time. O'Grady noted that Snowden did not even try to fulfill the necessary requirements.
