OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin (pictured on the right), in a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron (pictured on the left), stressed the inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of Belarus and putting pressure on Minsk, the Kremlin press service reports.
“When discussing the aggravated situation in Belarus, Vladimir Putin emphasized the inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of the Republic and putting pressure on the Belarusian leadership. Both sides expressed interest in a speedy settlement of the problems that had arisen,” the statement says.
It is noted that the conversation took place on the initiative of the French side.
Massive opposition protests began across Belarus on August 9, after the presidential elections, which Lukashenko won - according to the CEC, he gained 80.1% of the vote.
Also, Putin and Macron discussed the Libyan crisis by phone.
In addition, the parties agreed on further contacts at various levels.
