A Black Employee of Amazon Accused the Concern of Racism
OREANDA-NEWS. One of it's employees filed a lawsuit against the Amazon concern, complaining of discrimination, the «Reuters» news agency reported on Tuesday, March 2. In a complaint sent to a court in Washington state the day before, the head of business development at Amazon Web Services, an African-American woman, Charlotte Newman, accused the management of the concern of racism.
According to her, black professionals get less attractive positions and move up the career ladder more slowly, than white employees. In particular, Newman claims, that because of her skin color, her promotion took 2.5 years longer, than usual. Newman also complained about two colleagues, one of whom made a racist insult to her, and the other — committed sexual harassment.
The head of business Development at Amazon Web Services is demanding compensation for non-pecuniary damage. She is represented by attorney Douglas Vigdor, known for defending victims of sexual assault by producer Harvey Weinstein and Fox News founder Roger Ailes.
