The work "The Comedian" belongs to the Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan. The preliminary cost of the lot ranged from one million to one and a half million dollars. As a result, the lot went for $6,240,000.

The auction house on the social network X reposted a message from Justin Sun, who purchased the lot. In the post, he mentioned that he would personally eat a banana in the coming days.

In 2019, two copies of the work were sold for 120 thousand dollars.
