OREANDA-NEWS. The recent economic and social developments in Moldova, progress made in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the actions to be pursued were discussed at the meeting of Prime Minister Pavel Filip with the IMF expert team, led by Ben Kelmanson, who pay a visit to Chisinau today.

The Prime Minister welcomed the experts' visit, especially the presence of the new Permanent Representative of the IMF in Moldova, Volodymyr Tulin, and highlighted the good cooperation with Armine Khachatryan, completing the mission in August 2017.

Also, the head of the Executive reiterated the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding with the IMF: «The IMF program has helped us to restore the trust of foreign partners and we will continue to focus on ensuring its good implementation.»

In this context, there were reviewed the most important reforms of the government, as well as the General-Government Roadmap on the priority reform agenda before the end of 2017. «This Roadmap is a signal that we shall go further with the reform agenda, which we are doing not for the IMF, the EU, but for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova», said Pavel Filip.

At his part, IMF Mission Head, Ben Kelmanson, welcomed the Government's actions to promote reforms for the benefit of Moldova's citizens. The official said that the purpose of that visit was to get informed about the macroeconomic situation and to discuss budget-fiscal and monetary policies as well as other relevant policies in anticipation of the second evaluation of the program scheduled for autumn 2017.
