OREANDA-NEWS Prime Minister Boyko Borissov talked to the US Ambassador to Sofia Eric Rubin.

During the meeting, which took place at the building of the Council of Ministers, the two discussed the current political topics and the recent presidential elections in Bulgaria, as well as the development of bilateral cooperation. The conversation also included a discussion on the situation and challenges related to the migration crisis. Prime Minister Borissov pointed out that Bulgaria puts the utmost efforts in protecting EU external borders.

The Prime Minister expressed the opinion that the good relations between the two countries will be preserved with the new presidential administration in the US.
After his visit to Vietnam, on the way to Bulgaria, Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski paid a short visit to the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan. There, the Prime Minister met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Rustam Azimov. Mr. Oresharski and Mr. Azimov discussed bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan , with a an emphasis on economic issues. The two discussed the upcoming meeting of the Joint Committee of the intergovernmental Commission and political consultations in June this year. Discussed was also the possibility the Bulgarian Prime Minister to visit Uzbekistan before the end of the year.
