OREANDA-NEWS In the interview to Fox News TV channel, President Petro Poroshenko told about the negotiations with President of the U.S. Donald Trump.

“Today is a very unique day in the Ukraine-USA relations. It was my first meeting with the U.S. President. And I saw a true leader,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President also noted that the Ukrainian delegation received a convincing confirmation that the U.S. supports Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as our fight for democracy and freedom.

“We are content with a comprehensive support of the U.S. demonstrated by President Trump and Vice President Pence,” the President of Ukraine emphasized.

Petro Poroshenko informed that in the course of the negotiations, the parties discussed two blocks of issues. The first one concerned peaceful settlement. He reminded the events that took place 3 years ago when he had put forward the peace plan for Donbas, which then became the basis of the Minsk agreements.

“I am absolutely confident that President Trump as a true charismatic leader can help bring peace to our land,” Petro Poroshenko said and emphasized that he is strongly confident about that.

The President also noted that the second important part in the relations of the two countries is the history of success of the Ukrainian reforms. “In this context, we are speaking of the efficient interaction in the implementation of reforms in the economic sphere - coal supply from Pennsylvania to the Ukrainian power plants, liquified gas supply from Louisiana to the Ukrainian gas transit system and cooperation in the field of nuclear energy,” Petro Poroshenko said.
