OREANDA-NEWS Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković and President of Hungary János Áder agreed today that the relations of the two countries are friendly and with no open issues, a special contribution for which was made by the help and support of Hungary during the entire process of our country’s membership in NATO.
“Montenegro highly appreciates the role of Hungary in the process of NATO integration, which was our contact-country for a while, and our success is your success at the same time,” Prime Minister Marković said, adding that Montenegro, as a new NATO member state, is ready to fulfill all its obligations arising from the system of collective security.
President Áder particularly stressed the good timing of our NATO membership process. “You have made a good decision at the right time,” the Hungarian President said.
Informing the Hungarian President about Montenegro's foreign policy priorities, Prime Minister Marković said that we are focused now on European integration, and the concrete goal is to open all negotiation chapters by the middle of the next year and to enter the process of closing the chapters, that is ending the negotiations. The Prime Minister of Montenegro added that the last week's assessments of the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and French President Emmanuel Macron on a certain enlargement of the European Union are encouraging.
During the talks, the two officials exchanged their views on the current situation in the Western Balkans and Europe.
The meeting expressed mutual willingness and an open possibility of cooperation on certain projects in the field of environmental protection, that reputable Hungarian companies would perform in Montenegro.
