Moldovan, Belgian premiers speak out for strengthening bilateral relations
OREANDA-NEWS Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with Belgian PM Charles Michel in Brussels today. At the event, the two officials signed a protocol on the amendment of the Convention between the governments of Moldova and Belgium on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax dodging as for the taxes on income and capital.
The two prime ministers highlighted the development and consolidation of the friendship and partnership relations during the 25 years since the establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries. In particular, the Moldovan PM emphasized the cooperation in the domestic affairs and economy sectors and spoke out for boosting the Moldovan-Belgian commercial and economic relations. At the same time, Pavel Filip said that Moldova was an investment platform with an increased potential of development and was open for the most ambitious economic and social projects, and Belgian investments were welcome in Moldova. “There are several tens of Belgian companies which invest in Moldova and their example can be followed also by other investors from Belgium,” Charles Michel said.
At the same time, the Moldovan PM declared for further developing the Moldovan-Belgian inter-governmental dialogue. He thanked Prime Minister Charles Michel for the support and assistance offered Moldova to implement the reforms assumed by the signing of the Association Agreement with EU.
“The 2017 year will be dedicated to strengthening the stability and implementing the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement and ensuring the irreversibility of Moldova’s European integration,” Pavel Filip said, stressing the Moldovan authorities’ firm political will to carry out the reforms.
Also, the two PMs discussed the regional security, migration phenomenon, as well as the international cooperation to fight terrorism and hybrid threats.
