OREANDA-NEWS. Chairman of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to Russia President Vladimir Putin as the two countries celebrate the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia.

«This important holiday symbolizes strong historical ties and the like-mindedness of our peoples. The Union State has a solid foundation relying on the rich spiritual and cultural legacy and on a huge economic potential of cooperation,» the message of greetings reads.

Alexander Lukashenko is convinced that by joint efforts the sides will continue the Union State construction and the development of integration processes on the principles of equality and mutual trust. «Millions of people of Belarus and Russia expect us to do so,» he said.
