A 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Fukushima Prefecture
OREANDA-NEWS A 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Fukushima Prefecture, Japan at 5.59 am, on 22 November 2016. A tsunami warning was issued earlier by the Japanese authority and residents in Fukushima and Miyagi Prefectures were instructed to leave the coastal areas for higher-level areas/places. However, the tsunami warning has since been lifted based on the current situation in the affected areas.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo has confirmed that there are no Malaysians involved thus far.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo are closely monitoring the situation. The Embassy is also in close contact with the Japanese authorities for the latest updates on the situation and for any advisories.
The Government of Malaysia expresses its sympathy to the Government and people of Japan, especially those in the affected areas.
