OREANDA-NEWS  An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 was recorded in the western part of Argentina, the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reports.

According to the operational processing of the Altai-Sayan branch, the epicenter of the earthquake recorded at 01:59 Moscow time on Monday was 72 km north of the city of San Juan.

According to the intensity of the tremors in the epicenter, the earthquake is estimated as "quite strong".

The U.S. Geological Survey estimated the magnitude of the earthquake at 5.7 as well. According to her, the earthquake was located at a depth of 107.7 km.
