Authorities in 12 US states have filed lawsuits against President Joe Biden over his decree to protect public health and the environment. State representatives believe that this decision of the head of state will lead to large monetary burdens for the population. This information was reported by the agency "The Hill".
The lawsuit was filed by the states led by Republicans - Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt filed a lawsuit, and the authorities of Arkansas, Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah supported such a step.
First of all, the authors of the lawsuit criticize the amount present in the Biden decree, which allegedly costs the society the emission of greenhouse gases - 9.5 trillion dollars.
The states filing the lawsuit note that this is a large enough amount of money to justify a huge increase in regulatory measures in agriculture or manufacturing. They also express fears that the Democratic government will interfere in many aspects of American life.
In February, it became known that the United States had officially returned to the Paris Climate Agreement. The Biden government has pledged to drastically cut emissions in the coming years. The country was previously withdrawn from the agreement by former head of state Donald Trump.
