OREANDA-NEWS. Yuzhnoye Design Office, the leading enterprise of the space industry of Ukraine, in the framework of the Dubai Airshow 2019, presented a conceptual design of a line of lunar flying and landing vehicles that can be used to search for mineral and will be the first step in the construction of a settlement on the Moon.

In Soviet period, the company developed the space rockets Cosmos and Zenit, as well as the intercontinental ballistic missiles Satan. At the present time, the company manufactures parts of the first stage of the American missiles Antares.

“At the Dubai Airshow 2019, for the first time, a 1:5 scale design model of a lunar landing apparatus manufactured by Yuzhnoye Design Ofiice with using additive technologies was presented,” the publication on the company’s website says.

As it is explained, the project is developed to study the lunar surface and deliver cargo weighing up to 150 kilograms. The device has ability to fly with scientific equipment from place to place three times. “In the future, this opens new opportunities for scientific research, the search for minerals on the Moon,” the report says.

The message is published together with colorful 3D-video, in which the flight route is shown, as well as the exterior view of the lunar lander-hopper, the process of its landing, taking soil samples, and flight to a new place. At the end of the video, it is mentioned that the device is the first practical step for the construction of a settlement on the surface of the natural satellite of the Earth.
