OREANDA-NEWS Exports of passenger cars from China to Russia in January-February 2025 fell by almost half, while truck shipments fell by almost eight times over the same period, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.

In January-February, exports of passenger cars from China to Russia amounted to $749.9 million (-48.8%).

Monthly volumes of their supplies have been steadily decreasing since October last year, starting from which recycling rates were increased 1.8 times in the Russian Federation. In October last year, passenger cars were imported to Russia for $ 1.49 billion, in November - for $ 1.43 billion, in December - for $ 1.38 billion. In January of this year, with the next planned round of increased recycling (by 10-20%), the figure fell to $516.1 million, and by the end of February - to $233.8 million.

Truck shipments in the first two months of 2025 dropped 7.7 times (by 87%) to $40.8 million.

The trend towards a drop in their import volume, as in the case of passenger cars, has become clear since October last year. After surging to a record $443 million in September, before the increase in recycling, the volumes of October and November were in the range of only $100-110 million. In December, Chinese customs recorded a surge in shipments to $207.2 million, followed by a collapse from the new year: to $24.7 million in January and further to $16.1 million in February.

Exports from China to Russia of parts and accessories for motor vehicles, in contrast to car shipments, have increased by 10% to $408.6 million since the beginning of the year. At the same time, in February, their shipments fell by almost half month-on-month to $138.6 million from $270 million in January.
