OREANDA-NEWS  In July 2023, sales of new passenger cars in Russia increased in annual terms on a "low base" by 2.7 times, to 95,654 units, the analytical agency "Autostat" reported with reference to the data of JSC "Passport Industrial Consulting" (JSC "PPK") - a joint venture of the agency and the operator of the EPTS JSC "Electronic passport".

According to the PPK, 82,407 cars were sold on the Russian passenger market in June. Thus, the monthly growth of the market in July amounted to 16.1%.

PPK statistics include data on sales of all car brands on the market, and also takes into account the volume of parallel imports.

Data from the traditional automotive press release of the Association of European Businesses (AEB) does not take into account parallel imports, which account for about 10% of the market. In addition, some brands provide data to the AEB only quarterly. These are, in particular, Chery (incl. Exeed and Omoda), Evolve, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

The publication of the AEB press release on sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles is scheduled later on Friday.

In January-July 2023, 497.23 thousand passenger cars were sold in Russia, 28.2% more than a year earlier.
