OREANDA-NEWS The United States excluded Turkey from the F-35 aircraft production program for the purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems. This information was reported by the representative of the Pentagon Jessica Maxwell.
According to Maxwell, the position of the United States remains unchanged so far - the S-400 are incompatible with the F-35, and Turkey's participation in the program has been terminated. At the moment, America continues to move with the process of formally excluding Turkey from the F-35 partnership, as announced in July 2019.
The United States sent an official notification to Turkey about its exclusion from the production program of the latest F-35 fighters due to the purchase by Ankara of the Russian S-400 air defense systems. This information was reported by the Anadolu agency. It is noted that the United States canceled a joint memorandum on the production of the F-35, signed by Turkey in January 2007, signing it with the seven remaining partners in the F-35 project - Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia, Denmark, Canada and Norway.
Earlier, Turkey committed itself to buy 100 F-35 aircraft. She has also been involved in the production of over 1000 components for them. As the Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic Mustafa Varank told RIA Novosti earlier, Turkey continues to produce these components, despite the fact that the United States excluded it from this project.
