OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Railways refuses to accept new wagons on its network, which is why car-building plants cannot supply their products to customers. Kommersant writes about this with reference to the materials of the meeting with Deputy Minister of Transport Alexei Shilo.

At that time, the enterprises had accumulated 2,530 wagons. According to Evgeny Semenov, executive director of the Association of Carriage Builders (OVS), the situation is becoming more critical every day, as the manufacture of rolling stock continues, but it is impossible to use it.

For example, more than 430 wagons remain at the Kanash Car Building Plant, due to lack of space, they are already being stored in several tiers. And at Altaivagon, we had to disassemble some of the wagons, because there was nowhere to put new products.

Russian Railways indicates that traffic problems on the network are associated with an excess of wagons, which is estimated at more than 250 thousand units. The operator is trying to solve this problem by any means, including the new rolling stock. To do this, the company has introduced limits on the registration of wagons at stations adjacent to the factories.

To obtain an identification number, the manufacturer must assign the car to the station, but then the buyer, after two or three months, reissues the car for himself and his station. Semenov points out that the initial postscript has always been a formality, but now manufacturers are being denied it, citing station congestion.
