The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation: No One Survived the Crash of the An-26 Plane
OREANDA-NEWS. There are no survivors of the An-26 plane crash in Kamchatka. This was stated in the press service of the Ministry of Transport, TASS reports. «There were 22 passengers and six crew members on board», — the media quotes the message of the department.
The Minister of Transport Vitaly Saveliev, who heads the government commission to establish the circumstances of the disaster, is in the region. He examined the scene of the accident and holds a meeting with the regional authorities and departments that are involved in eliminating the consequences of the emergency, the search operation and working with relatives of the crash victims.
The ministry also noted that a headquarters has been established in the province to provide psychological assistance to the relatives of the victims. An-26, flying from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, crashed on July 6 during landing. Its wreckage was found 3.8 km from the airport of Palana.
A criminal case has been initiated under the article on violation of traffic safety rules and operation of transport (part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The investigation is considering several versions of the crash, including pilot error, technical malfunction and adverse weather conditions.
The bodies of 19 victims of the disaster have been found. One of the passengers of the An-26 has been identified. A three-day mourning period has been declared in Kamchatka.
