OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian government proposes to raise the base rate of luxury transport tax from the current three million rubles to 10 million rubles, which will lead to a decrease in the number of those who pay the increased tax. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. It is noted that already last year, mass-produced cars began to be considered luxurious.
It is proposed to reduce the number of those who will have to pay an increased transport tax. Now it will be counted from 10 million rubles, and not from 3, as it was before. Such a norm will begin to work from the current year," Mishustin said.
The base rate for calculating the “luxury tax” of 3 million rubles has been in effect since the beginning of 2014. Since then, car prices in Russia have increased one and a half to two times, which is why some cars of mass automakers have begun to fall under the increasing coefficient for several years now. The situation worsened last year when prices went up against the backdrop of a global crisis in the production of components. As a result, some cars of mass automakers (Kia, Nissan) began to fall under the multiplying factor.
Earlier it was reported that the State Duma proposed to exempt pensioners with cars with engines up to 150 horsepower from paying transport tax. As grounds for the innovation, he pointed out the need to make equal conditions for paying this tax for all pensioners, as well as the lack of municipal transport in small settlements.
