Thai media, citing the police, reported two dead children: a 12-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl. This information was confirmed to the agency by the Russian consul Vladimir Pronin. "The hospital, which brought the victims of the clash of Russians, confirmed the death of two Russian children, six and 12 years old", the diplomat said.

According to the publication, the accident occurred in a canal connecting the two main harbors of Phuket with a bay on the eastern side of the island, at about 8:15. According to the Russian media at the Russian Embassy in Thailand, according to preliminary data, 35 Russian tourists, along with a guide, were aboard one of the boats. As a result of the accident, 21 Russian tourists were sent to Phuket medical facilities with injuries of varying severity.

In early February, a Russian tourist drowned in Phuket while swimming near Patong Beach. According to police, the 34-year-old woman was on the beach with her friend, with whom they swam in turns, so that the second could look after things. The Russian woman drowned 30 meters from the coast, doctors failed to reanimate her.
