OREANDA-NEWS Russia's "sworn partners" are closely monitoring the resumption of direct flights from Moscow to Bali, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergey Tolchenov told RIA Novosti, commenting on the difficulties in organizing flights.

Earlier, passengers from Moscow arrived on the Indonesian island of Bali on the first direct flight from Moscow operated by Aeroflot in four years. The travelers were greeted with wreaths of fresh flowers, flags of Russia and Indonesia, as well as traditional dances and music. According to the airline, the number of passengers on the flight has reached about 300, that is, it is approaching full boarding.

"Indeed, there were problems that were related to the issues of refueling aircraft and financial calculations. I probably would not like to disclose the details, because, unfortunately, our "sworn partners" are watching us closely and trying to stop our achievements. Nevertheless, thanks to the efforts of the two countries, we managed to solve all these problems," Tolchenov said.

The Ambassador recalled that the issue of resuming direct flights was discussed by the leaders of Russia and Indonesia in July.

"We can proudly say that it was today that we fulfilled this agreement," the diplomat concluded.

In July 2024, the Russian ambassador to Indonesia noted in an interview with RIA Novosti that direct flights to Bali have not yet been launched, as Indonesian companies and banks are afraid of secondary Western sanctions.
Aeroflot has started operating direct flights from Moscow to Denpasar (Bali, Indonesia). Regular flights between Russia and Indonesia have resumed for the first time since 2020: flights were discontinued due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the airline, in the current seasonal schedule, two flights a week will be operated from Moscow to Denpasar - on Tuesdays and Saturdays, the return flight - on Wednesdays and Sundays. The company added that on October 3, a third weekly flight will be added, departing from Moscow on Thursdays, and from Denpasar on Fridays.
