OREANDA-NEWS The American Tesla corporation will launch an autopilot system in China in the coming days. This is reported by Bloomberg.

According to sources in the agency, Tesla will launch a new service in China "any day now" — the Full Self-Driving (FSD) advanced driver assistance system. Electric car owners will be able to use FSD on public roads: Tesla calls its service autopilot, although during its operation the driver must still keep his hands on the steering wheel and be ready to take control at any moment.

The cost of the package of services providing access to autopilot will be 64 thousand yuan, or about 780 thousand rubles. According to a company source, Tesla has already prepared marketing materials stating that the FSD will be able to autonomously make turns, change lanes, and obey traffic lights.

It is clarified that the head of Tesla, Elon Musk, has long wanted to launch autopilot in China so that his electric cars would be more attractive against the background of the local car industry. According to journalists, the FSD system must receive approval from the Chinese authorities before launch, and, apparently, Musk's corporation has received such permission.

Earlier, sources of the Financial Times newspaper said that Tesla's Chinese business could suffer due to the aggravation of relations between Washington and Beijing. Insiders noted that the Chinese authorities may even ban Tesla from launching an autopilot service in the region.
