OREANDA-NEWS The growth of the recycling fee in Russia from October 1 will deal a severe blow to the car market. Anton Shaparin, President of the National Automobile Union (NAS), stated this in a comment to Autonews.

According to him, adding 300 thousand rubles to the cost of the most popular Chinese cars means an increase in prices by 10-20 percent. In turn, the executive director of the Association "Russian Automobile Dealers" (ROAD) Igor Chikin says that prices will rise by at least ten percent due to a combination of factors.

In addition to recycling, these are problems with transfers to China, a high key rate in Russia, which increases the cost of working capital. At the same time, Chikin is confident that not only imported, but also Russian cars will rise in price.

Anastasia Baibarosha, head of the department for work with representative offices of Alfa-Leasing Group of Companies, suggested that by the end of the year, prices for passenger cars will rise by 10-15 percent. Alexey Tuzov, an independent expert in the transport industry, expects that the average rise in price of a new car will amount to 400 thousand rubles.

Shaparin compared the congestion on the Russian-Chinese border, which arose due to the large number of car transporters, with an "attempt to breathe before death," that is, to import as many cars as possible with the current scrap collection. Other experts believe that the increase in waiting times to 11 days is also associated with difficulties with rail transportation. The shortage of containers forces us to switch to road transportation.

The main reason for the increase in the fee is the desire of the authorities to support domestic automakers who cannot compete with the Chinese automotive industry, which already occupies two thirds of the new car market. In particular, Maxim Sokolov, President of AvtoVAZ, has repeatedly complained about this.
