OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian ship Ursa Major, sailing from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok, crashed off the coast of Spain and Algeria due to technical problems. This is reported by the newspaper El diario vasco.

"According to sources, an explosion of equipment occurred on the merchant ship, which went into a roll at 12:30 this Monday, which forced the allocation of this area due to the danger to navigation before the arrival of the Russian ship, which took over the leadership of rescue operations," the publication notes.

Additionally, it is specified that fourteen crew members were rescued, but two were missing. At the moment, the ship's crew is temporarily in Spain.

Earlier, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, named the possible cause of the tanker crash in the Kerch Strait on December 15. He pointed out that the Sea of Azov is very sensitive to strong winds because it is shallow, and any waves that may appear in the reservoir are destructive.
