OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has agreed with proposal of the head of “Russian Railways” to offer children from 10 to 17 years old 50% discount for summer vacation travelling.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has supported the proposal of the head of “Russian Railways” Oleg Belozyorov on providing a 50% discount for children for their travels during vacation.

“Passenger traffic is growing, which is a very satisfying fact. With long-distance trains it has grown by almost 8%, and by 3% with suburban trains”, Belozyorov told about the results of 2018 during his meeting with Dmitry Medvedev. “Passengers use modern digital technologies. Last year, more than 50% electronic tickets were sold. And the wagon park has been seriously renewed, which is more than 1.300 wagons, thanks to decisions made by the government."

“We are ready for summer passenger transportation”, Belozyorov continued. “We are going to transport more than 38 million passengers over the summer, of which 2.5 million are children. Specially prepared trains were formed. But I would like to ask for support of the company's offer, the opportunity to provide a 50% discount from June 1 to August 31 for the transportation of children from 10 to 17 years of age, in reserved seat carriages and general carriages," Oleg Belozyorov said.

The head of government supported the proposal of the head of “Russian Railways”, “We also made such decisions in the previous period, both at the state and at the corporate level”, the Prime Minister recalled. “I think this practice is good, it has shown itself in the best way, because our citizens actively use this privilege. It helps many families with children reduce the cost of recreational travels, to the south or another direction. Therefore, I think that it would be possible to take such action this year, given that the financial condition of “Russian Railways” makes this feasible,” Medvedev concluded.
