OREANDA-NEWS  Russia in 2022 took the first place in Japan's exports of used cars, the data was publicly released by the association of used car exporters of this country.

According to its data, 213.6 thousand used cars were sold to Russia during the year. Compared to the previous year, when 162.2 thousand were sold, the increase was 51 thousand or 31.7%. If at the beginning of the year, on average, about 11 thousand cars were sold per month, with the exception of February, when 15 thousand used cars entered the Russian market, then in the last three months of the year, the level of exports to Russia confidently held at the level of 25 thousand. For comparison: in 2021, on average, sales steadily held in the range of 13-15 thousand per month. The dynamics of prices for used cars last year is also noticeably different from previous years. If in 2020 and 2021 the average price for a used car that went to the Russian market was about 600 thousand yen (about 4.5 thousand dollars at the current exchange rate), then since June 2022 it has exceeded 1 million yen, and since August it has been around 1.5 million yen (11.5 thousand yen).

At the same time, the export of new cars from Japan to Russia has practically stopped since May, and the total number of new cars sold amounted to only 20.4% of the previous year or 16.5 thousand.
