Roscosmos Intends to Organize Flights of People to the Moon Using Angara Rocket
OREANDA-NEWS. Russia’s first manned missions to the moon will be carried out with the help of several launches of carrier rockets of the Angara family, and not on the super heavy Yenisei rocket, as previously assumed. This was announced on December 15 by the head of the Russian State Corporation for Space Activities (Roscosmos), Dmitry Rogozin.
“Angara in its various new versions (5M, 5B) is becoming the main vehicle for launching heavy payloads and a universal tool for starting deep space exploration. […] We have already groped the main tool for starting lunar exploration,” Rogozin wrote on his Facebook page.
According to the head of Roscosmos, the presence of two launch complexes since 2023 will allow combining launches, assembling manned flight complexes in orbit. Rogozin considered it premature to start creating Yenisei before the emergence of new technologies.
