OREANDA-NEWS The departure of the Air India backup aircraft from Krasnoyarsk to San Francisco was postponed for four hours. As a result, the passengers of the crash-landed flight were stuck in the Russian city for almost a day, TASS reports.
Initially, the reserve board of the Indian airline was supposed to arrive in Krasnoyarsk at 16:15 local time (12:15 Moscow time), and depart at 18:15 (16:15 Moscow time).
However, the arrival was delayed until about 20:00 (16:00 Moscow time), and departure to the USA — until 22:00 (18:00 Moscow time).
A Boeing 777 of a foreign airline flying from New Delhi to San Francisco requested an emergency landing in Krasnoyarsk on the evening of July 18. It was reported that smoke detectors were activated on board the liner, but later experts did not find smoke and fire on board.
According to preliminary data from the Federal Air Transport Agency, there were 243 passengers on the plane. During the waiting period, people were placed in the terminal building. The media published photos of travelers from India sleeping on the floor.
