No Air Leaks Are Detected in the American Segment of the ISS
OREANDA-NEWS. A specialist at the Mission Control Center in Houston told the commander of the International Space Station (ISS), American astronaut Christopher Cassidy, that no air leak was found in the American part of the station. The American segment looks good, the expert told Cassidy, answering the question in which module of the station the leak was found after two days of isolation of the crew in the Russian segment.
A small air leak on the ISS was registered in September 2019. At the end of August 2020, after its speed doubled from 270 to 540 grams per day, the crew closed the hatches in the ISS modules in order to search for the leak and for four days was isolated in the Russian segment of the station. However, a leak, which does not threaten the ISS or the crew, was not found. In September, the rate of leakage increased to 1.4 kilograms per day, so the crew had to be re-isolated on the Russian segment.
Currently, beside Cassidy, Russian cosmonauts Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Vagner are on the ISS.
