OREANDA-NEWS. American astronaut Chris Cassidy and Russian cosmonauts Nikolai Tikhonov and Andrei Babkin will replace the current ISS crew. This was reported by the press service of NASA. According to representatives of the space agency, Cassidy, Tikhonov and Babkin will replace Russian cosmonaut Oleg Skrypochka and American astronauts Jessica Meir and Andrew Morgan in April. The new crew will remain on the ISS until October 2020.
The new crew during a November 7 press conference will answer all questions about the upcoming flight, the organization emphasized. Earlier, Roscosmos reported that the interdepartmental commission discussed the proposal of the ISS partners to change the crew of the ISS-63/64, which should go into orbit on the Soyuz MS-16 manned spacecraft in the spring of 2020.
The American portal SpaceFlight Now, citing NASA administrator Jim Brydenstein, reported that instead of an astronaut from Japan, the next crew will include a NASA astronaut.
