OREANDA-NEWS As part of the national project "Safe high-quality Roads", 233.5 kilometers of federal highways were built and reconstructed in Russia in 2023, Rosavtodor said in a statement.
"In the last road construction season, 26 facilities with a total length of 233.5 km were put into operation on the federal network as part of the construction and reconstruction. The main goal is to increase transport accessibility and road capacity," the road department noted.
In particular, in 2023, great attention was paid to bringing the federal highway A-360 "Lena" Nevers – Yakutsk to the standard in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Amur Region.
Work has also been completed on the construction and reconstruction of one of the busiest sections of the M-5 Ural in Bashkiria – the Southern bypass of Ufa (from 1480 to 1494 km). The roadway was expanded from two to six lanes and seven artificial structures were built, which today provide a high level of safety for drivers and pedestrians.
In the Murmansk region, road builders reconstructed a section of km 14 – km 19 of the R-21 Cola road. Thanks to the commissioning of the site, a semi-ring of motor vehicles around Murmansk has been finally formed and transport links between the industrial zone and the highway network of the city and the entire region have been provided.
In Primorye, the reconstruction of the 29-kilometer section of the A-370 Ussuri highway (km 305 – km 335) has been completed. About 2.5 km of the highway runs in a new direction – bypassing the village of Znamenka. "This will make it possible to bring transit transport outside the settlement and increase the level of traffic safety on the highway," the traffic department stressed.
