Minsk Wants to Find "Miners" of Ryanair Aircraft
OREANDA-NEWS. Minsk is determined to find the authors of the "mining" of the Ryanair plane, which urgently landed in Minsk, said the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Belarus Dmitry Gora. Minsk will be grateful for international cooperation, the Belarusian side is preparing requests for legal assistance on the incident. Although now such cooperation leaves much to be desired, said Gora. And he gave an example when, in January 2020, a request was sent to Switzerland to investigate reports of the alleged mining of several objects in Belarus in the fall of 2019. The request, as in the case of the plane, was sent from the Protonmail service. But in a year and a half there was no answer.
Director of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic Artem Sikorsky said that Belarus has not yet received objective control data from Poland and Ireland on the incident with the Ryanair aircraft. The ICAO Commission has not yet gathered in the country, only on June 4, Minsk was notified of its meeting, neither its composition nor the competence of its participants is still known, Sikorsky said at a press conference in Minsk.
On May 23, a Ryanair plane flew from Athens to Vilnius. After the aircraft entered the space of Belarus, the pilots from the local dispatcher received a message about the mining of the liner. In this regard, he was landed at the Minsk airport, where Roman Protasevich, the founder of the Nexta Telegram channel, recognized as extremist in Belarus, was detained - he was on board.
European countries said that Minsk forced the plane to land at its airport under an invented pretext. Brussels is preparing the fourth package of European sanctions against Belarus. Belarus replied that the message about the mining of the plane had been sent to the e-mail of the Minsk airport. The crew commander himself made the decision to land.
