OREANDA-NEWS. The leadership of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan has accelerated the development of a plan to break the alliance with the French concern Renault amid a scandal with the former head of the alliance Renault - Nissan - Mitsubishi. This was reported on Monday by the Financial Times, citing confidential sources.
According to their information, the plan includes a complete gap between the companies in the technical and production fields, as well as a reshuffle in the Nissan board. The newspaper’s sources also claim that Carlos Ghosn’s escape to Lebanon was not the cause, but only contributed to the increase in tension between members of the association.
It's noted that the complete cessation of relations within the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance will force its members to seek new partners to compete effectively with existing associations in the automotive industry, such as the PSA-Fiat Chrysler alliance and the joint production of Volkswagen and Ford.
