OREANDA-NEWS. In 2019, the European manufacturer of aircraft Airbus bypassed Boeing in the number of delivered liners, Reuters writes with reference to sources. According to the agency, in 2019 Airbus, according to its own forecast unverified by auditors, delivered 863 aircraft. Boeing against the backdrop of problems with the 737 MAX model for January — November 2019 delivered 345 aircraft, which is less than half of last year's figure for the same period when the MAX model liners were delivered in full. For the whole of 2018, Boeing delivered 806 aircraft.
At the same time, the American media clarifies that in October, due to its own problems at the production, Airbus was initially forced to reduce the supply plan by 2-3%, but in the end the company sent additional resources to achieve the supply of 863 aircraft instead of the planned 860.
In mid-December, Boeing announced that it would suspend the production of 737 MAX liners from January 2020. This happened after two air crashes involving aircraft of this model: in October 2018, the Boeing 737 Max crashed in Indonesia (189 dead), the other crashed in Ethiopia in March 2019 (157 people died). Amid claims to the new Boeing model, company head Dennis Mühlenburg resigned.
