OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian Lada brand retained its position in the leasing market in the first half of the year and topped the rating of passenger cars, follows from the data of leasing companies, which RIA Novosti reviewed.

"The Russian Lada brand accounted for a quarter of passenger car sales in the total volume of passenger cars financed by the Fleet Car Leasing company in the first half of 2024 (25%). Moskvich accounted for another 13%, Chinese Geely took third place, also with 13%, while Chinese Haval and Chery received 8% and 6% respectively," Fleet Car Leasing (part of IG Insight) noted. The company added that, thus, the share of the top 5 brands amounted to 65% of total sales, while Russian brands accounted for 38% and Chinese brands for 27%. Europlan leasing company noted that according to the results of the first half of the year, they see an increase in demand for cars. Lada's share in the company's portfolio was 26%, the rest of the rating positions were taken by Chinese automakers: Haval with a share of 15%, Geely - 10%; Chery - 10%; Exeed - 5%.

Anton Musatov, CEO of VTB Leasing, told RIA Novosti that Lada Granta, with a 17% share, became the most in-demand model for the company's sales.

"The most popular passenger car brands issued by VTB Leasing in the first half of the year were Lada (share - 27.7%), Geely (12.1%), Haval (11.6%), Chery (9.6%) and Baic (5.4%). The most popular model was Lada Granta (17%), Haval Jolion (6.9%) is in second place, Lada Vesta (6.3%) is in third place, followed by Baic U5 Plus (5.4%) and Geely Emgrand (4.4%)," Musatov noted.
