In The Atmosphere Burned Down Russian Satellite 2007
OREANDA-NEWS The Russian spacecraft Kosmos-2430 of the Oko missile attack warning system went out of orbit and burned in the atmosphere. This information follows from the data of the Command of aerospace defense of North America (NORAD, North American Aerospace Defense Command).
According to NORAD, the satellite ceased its orbital existence on January 5.
The device was launched into space on October 23, 2007 from the Plesetsk cosmodrome by the Molniya-M launch vehicle and was intended to track the launches of Intercontinental ballistic missiles from the US territory. According to unconfirmed reports, the connection with the "Cosmos-2430" was lost in 2012-2014 due to the development of the satellite resource.
It is noted that the satellite launched in 2007 was withdrawn from the Russian orbital group in 2012. In January, it was brought out of orbit as planned.
"January 5 at 9.48 GMT. Russian spacecraft for military purposes "Cosmos-2430" planning and de-orbited", — stated in the message command HQs. The device was completely burned in the dense layers of the atmosphere at an altitude of about 100 km above the Atlantic ocean.
This device was designed to track the launches of Intercontinental ballistic missiles from the territory of the United States.
Currently, Russia is forming a new space tier of the missile attack warning system (Tundra satellites, the first launched into orbit in 2015).
The Breeze-KM upper stage launched three new Russian military satellites on November 30, 2018.
"The launch vehicle of the light class "Rokot" at the set time successfully put into orbit three spacecraft in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of Russia", — said in a statement.
The launch vehicle was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region at 5:27 GMT on Friday, November 30. The space head unit— the upper stage with satellites— separated from the rocket at 5:33 Moscow time.
