OREANDA-NEWS  Chinese manufacturers have filled warehouses in Russia with cars. The lack of space for European cars was stated by the head of STELS Sergey Maksimov, his words are quoted by Prime.

According to the expert, brands from China fill the sites intentionally to prepare for the possible lifting of sanctions and the return of competitors.

"The Chinese are looking into the distance. This does not mean that the lifting of sanctions will be tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, but they want to protect themselves," Maximov explained.

Earlier, Dmitry Kostromin, Vice president of AvtoVAZ, complained that almost all of the Russians' money from buying new cars goes to China. According to him, Lada's market share is about 11 percent.

Maxim Sokolov, the head of the Russian carmaker, believes that increasing the recycling fee, which makes Chinese cars much more expensive, will help AvtoVAZ to increase sales and stop the process of losing market share. According to him, due to aggressive promotion and "discounts incomparable with the price of cars," brands from China are luring Lada buyers. However, state support should turn the situation around in the future.
