In Russia, freight transport sales are projected to grow by 60 percent

OREANDA-NEWS Sales of trucks on the Russian market in 2023 may grow by 60% compared to last year, buses – by 40%, the forecast was shared with RIA Novosti in the "State Transport Leasing Company" (GTLK).
"By the end of 2023, commercial sales of trucks in Russia are expected to increase by 60% year–on-year, buses - by 40%," the STLC said. According to the company, sales of trucks have already increased in the first half of the year by 66% year-on-year due to the renewal of the fleets of large construction companies and carriers at the expense of Chinese equipment. Bus sales also showed positive dynamics, an increase of 34%.
"The increase in demand in the first half of the year was also influenced by the increase in scrap collection for equipment from August 1, 2023 and state programs to support the renewal of passenger transport, including the profile program of the STLC and an investment project using the funds of the National Welfare Fund within the framework of the national project "Safe High-quality Roads," the STLC explained.
The share of Chinese vehicles in truck sales is growing: from 15.2% in the first half of 2022 to 53.5% in the first half of 2023. In the dump truck segment, its share has grown to 80%, in the truck tractor segment – to 64%. Sales of Russian brands are growing at a small pace (Kamaz +2.7%, GAZ +6.8%) relative to the dynamics of Chinese brands.
